WASTE MANAGEMENT
|
FICA manages a general purpose open trench tip which is open 24 hours-a-day, seven
days-a-week. The tip is monitored by the Environmental Protection Authority and must
adhere to the principles laid down by it.
Unlimited access to the tip will continue as long as all tip users keep to the guidelines
and observe the signs.
All residents are encouraged to recycle as much waste as possible.
Phone Michael Dellevergini on 0402 488317 with any questions regarding waste management issues.
|
TIP
|
The tip is situated on Mt Wellington Rd about 3 km from the corner of Mt Wellington and
Tankerton Rds.
The tip accepts general household waste only. It does NOT take old cars, oil, batteries,
chemicals and other hazardous waste or large household items e.g. white goods. The tip is
designed so that general kitchen waste is allocated to one trench and hard waste to another.
Please ensure that all waste goes into the appropriate trench and nothing is left near
the trenches or on the roads.

HAZARDOUS WASTE

The French Island CFA and SES branch ask that they are notified if hazardous materials are stored
on a property, in case of fire or accident. Any unwanted hazardous waste, such as chemicals and paint tins
can be removed free of charge. Under no circumstances should this type of waste go to the tip.
