ROAD MAINTENANCE
|
All roads on French Island are unsealed. Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) perform routine maintenance on sections
of the main French Island roads as well as maintenance on drainage and roadside vegetation.
Emergency maintenance can be carried out if necessary. Contact FICA for more information.
FICA works closely with the DELWP in maintaining and improving the schedule of road maintenance and monitoring the quality
of the work carried out.
Residents can play a role in keeping roads in good condition for longer by driving more slowly, and by
scheduling major projects that require heavy vehicles on the island for the Summer and Autumn months when roads are dry.

VEHICLE REGISTRATION
|
Vic Roads waives part of the vehicle registration fee if a vehicle "is registered
in the name of the person resident of French Island and used solely on French Island."

ROAD RULES
|
The Victorian road rules apply on French Island. For detailed information about
the State's road rules, visit
www.vicroads.vic.gov.au
Parks Victoria maintains the parking lot at Tankerton jetty. Residents are asked to park
along the roadside leading to the main parking area if gone for more than a week.
Vehicles that have not moved from the car park for more than a few
months may be towed.

TANKERTON CARPARK
|
As the population of French Island grows, pressure for spaces at the car park is increasing. With this in mind, we ask everyone to follow these guidelines.
If off-island for more than three days, park in the long term section of the car park.
If going away for a longer period, ask a friend or neighbour to drop you at the ferry rather than leaving a vehicle in the car park.
If leaving the island for good, please don’t abandon vehicles in the car park. Contact FICA for advice. (Link to fica secretary email).
If more than one car in your family, try to organise transport so that only one car is parked at the jetty at any one time.
Please note: Vehicles that have not moved from the car park for more than a few months may be towed.
